Matteo Vianello is a Ph.D. in Architecture and Landscape. 

He writes and researches the relationships between ecologies and design in the Contemporary Age.

He is currently a research fellow at Università Iuav di Venezia. He researches the historical development of hydroelectric infrastructure along the Piave river, Veneto.

He developed a research on Alpine glacial landscapes for Fondazione Benetton Studi Ricerche, titled Primo Bollettino dei Ghiacciai Estinti.

He wrote his Ph.D. thesis about the relationship between the oceanic ecologies and the construction of political territory. The research is called Returns To Seaspace: Urban Approaches to Marine Environments.

In 2022 he co-curated the project/event Matters of Lives: Encounters on the edge of the Pluriverse, a collective reflection on the aesthetics and politics between humans and non-humans.

He studied and worked for Università Iuav di Venezia as a teacher assistant.

Occasionaly, he helps Unfolding Pavilion whenever it comes the time to settle in Venice.
